And speaking of boring I noticed that my posts nowadays ARE boring. So now I will just post a few topics I really like to think and talk about... Which of course will not guarantee that this post won't be boring. (Damn. Too much repetition)
1. Numerology
Sooo, numerology is the study of numbers (duh) and the occult manner in which they reflect certain aptitudes and character tendencies, as an integral part of the cosmic plan. You wouldn't guess who was the person who came up with this... Yes, it was Pythagoras. Here is how it works: you need your birthday and your full name. Every letter is given a number, and you need to add all of this together until you get a single digit number, or either the master numbers 11 and 22. Each number represents different characteristics. I'll make a full example out of myself:
My name is Bencsics Tünde, and my birthday was 1989, September, the 11th.
In numerology B=2, E=5, N=5, C=3, S=1, I=9, T=2, Ü (u)=3, D=4. This way my name adds up as follows:
2+5+5+3+1+9+3+1= 29. Since I got 29, I have to add both the digits to get another number, this way I obtain the master number of 11.
Further on I have to add 2+3+5+4+5= 19. If I add these I will get 10, but 10 has to be added together again, because it's not a master number. In the end I get 1.
After this You have to add up your B-day numbers: 1+9+8+9+9+1+1=38. Again, this will add up as 3+8=11. Which is another master number.
Now, the number from your birthday is called the Life path number. If you get a master number you basically have to add the digits in it too, but the number (in my case 2) that you get should be considered a intensified versions of the number you get. I won't copy every detail here that is said about this number, but whomever is curious about this, can find the explanations here.
2. Noetics
I guess everyone who read Dan Brown knows about this one. For those out there who don't have any idea who Dan Brown is, I'll just mention The Da Vinci Code. Now, he is quite a talented writer, but in my opinion it's only because he brings back things that were buried for a long time, or used only by those few privileged people out there I always envied. Now, noetic sciences can be determined as a multidisciplinary field that brings objective scientific tools and techniques together with subjective inner knowing to study the full range of human experiences. I'll try to explain this one better, so everyone can understand it. Noetics were "rediscovered" by Apollo 14 astronaut, Edgar Mitchell, who was the sixth person to be able to walk around the surface of the moon. When he was on his way home he had a beautiful experience. Here is what he said: “The presence of divinity became almost palpable, and I knew that life in the universe was not just an accident based on random processes. . . .The knowledge came to me directly.” This led him to to conclude that reality is more complex, subtle, and mysterious than conventional science had led him to believe. Basically, noetic science studies intuition and hunches or experiences you have that cannot be explained or proven “rationally” but feel absolutely real. This way of knowing is what we call noetic. Noetic sciences study how this form of "matter" affects and influences the world around us.
3. "Evolution creationism and other modern myths"
Ok, so I borrowed this title from Vine Deloria, who was the author of the book by this same title. The thing is, it always fascinated me how certain people tend to believe either one or the other. They all did have quite interesting opinions though, and I found myself nodding at most of them, without thinking everything true. You might think me an idiot for bringing this one up, since most people out there are sure that the theory of evolution is 100% true, and there wasn't a single God to put the first man on this piece of rock we call Earth. Which might be true, if there wasn't that little part of myself butting in with: "but what if there WAS a creator and I don't believe in it? What then?"
Let's face it, people from all times and spaces thought about this and had their theories. They might have even convince every single person they came across of their truth. This doesn't mean, though, that everything is solved. After all, I haven't seen any proof of anything they taught us at school about these things. In my mind all of these are just theories, not facts. Which brings us to...
4. A.A. and T.T (ancient astronauts and time travel)
I always enjoyed a good old X-files episode, so this might not come as a surprise. The ancient astronaut theory states that some intelligent beings visited Earth in ancient and prehistoric times, and they were the ones people learned from, and also whom they believed were our gods. Apparently they believe that these astronauts were there at the huge flood you might remember from the bible, the were the ones that built the first pyramid and Stonehenge, and sometimes they even believe they were the ones that basically created human life as we know it. The most notorious author, who stated these thing in numerous books was Erich von Däniken. Däniken claims that ancient art and iconography throughout the world illustrates air and space vehicles, non-human but intelligent creatures, ancient astronauts, and artifacts of an anachronistically advanced technology. Von Däniken also claims that geographically separated historical cultures share artistic themes, which he argues imply a common origin. Von Däniken claims that the oral and written traditions of most religions contain references to alien visitors in the way of descriptions of stars and vehicular objects travelling through air and space. One such is Ezekiel's revelation in the Old Testament, which Däniken interprets as a detailed description of a landing spacecraft. Of course most scientists say that the guy is nuts, but who cares? I think his theories are cool.
5. Conspiracy Theories
after all these it might not be a surprise that my favorite conspiracy theories concern the Bible, Catholicism, recent wars and assassinations, extraterrestrials, the new world order, recent viruses and illnesses, and of course money. I believe almost all of these were a part of the Zeitgeist movies, which actually has another part coming out soon, and I cannot wait for it. Even if most of these are untrue, they are entertaining and I find it quite satisfying to state my opinions on them. I could spend days just talking about these stuff with people...
