Let's face it, everyone wants to visit Paris, London or Athens at some time in their life. Those places are like Mekka or something. I do wish to see these places too, but today I won't be showing you these.
There are so many beautiful places on Earth that should be cherished...
1. Plitvice, Croatia
The national Park of Plitvice lake is one of the most beautiful places I've seen. It's the oldest national park in Southeast Europe. It's near the border to Bosnia and Herzegovina. Since it is a National Park there are strict regulations to visiting it. The park has 16 surface lakes, mostly arranged in cascades. The area is surrounded by dense forests of beech, fir and spruce, and watered by various springs of the Korana River. Plitvice National Park is decorated with several caves and flower meadows too.
2. Huanglong, Sichuan
This place is known not only for its colorful pools, but for the diverse forest ecosystems, the waterfalls, the hot springs and the snow-capped peaks. Huanglong, just like Plitvice is a World Heritage Site. It was named Huanglong (Yellow Dragon), because the valley it is situated in resembles a huge dragon, and because in some parts the water has a golden tint to it from the limestone. Just like Plitvice, it's formed on travertine (calcium carbonate), so the place has many caves too.
3. Motlatse canyon, South Africa
The Blyde River Canyon, or Motlatse forms the northern part of the Drakensberg escarpment. It is the third largest canyon in the World, but it is probably the largest "green canyon", since it has such a lush subtropical forest. The canyon itself is around 1400 meters high, the water crystal clear, and teaming with exotic animals like hippos and crocodiles.
4. Kalalau valley, Hawaii
Of course everyone wants to visit Hawaii, so it's probably not a big surprise that it's on my list. Kalalau valley is is part of the Na Pali Coast State Park, so due to due to this it is forbidden for anyone to have a residence here. The only way to access this place is by a kayak, or by hiking, tho both can be dangerous. The Kalalau trail is around 18 kilometers long, so it is probably not for the lazy... Also, anyone who wants to hike must have a permit to stay overnight, and because they sell only around 60 of these per night most of the time you have to buy it with 6 months in advance.
5. Mellisani Lake and cave, Kefalonia
What could you say to this? I mean, besides staring with your mouth agape, feeling humbled to tears under this wonder of nature? The place is supposed to be the cave of the Nymphs, and I guess this is where I say, I do believe in fairies... The best time to visit the lake is between July and August, at the middle of the day, when the sun is best reflected in the water. The cave doesn't end here tho. It has two parts, and the other one is supposed to have a bunch of stalagmites and stalactites.
