Since you told me to mention people more often, and mention them by names, here I go, Boti.
You're a nice guy but you really have to take life so seriously.
And I bet your heart rate is way faster than before. If it is, I did my job. I won't be talking about you anymore today, cause I think I told you whatever I had to in private. So relax...
Since yesterday I made up a list about a few interesting buildings, I thought today would be great to show you some of the most amazing ghost towns out there.
1. Centralia, Pennsylvania
What happened here, you might ask. Well, apparently people did. There was an underground coal mine under the town, which caught on fire. It caught on fire because people used to burn the garbage over there. Who knew coal was flammable, right? And people kept living there until 1984, when a child was nearly swallowed by a sinkhole. The town's residents accidentally unleashed hell, which scientists think may burn for another 250 years, underneath their quiet mining town, leaving a modern ghost town.
2. Bodie, California
Bodie was founded in 1876. Since the surrounding areas had a lot of resources people came here from all over the world, so they could get rich trough mining. In fact so many people came here, that in four years there were already about 10.000 people in it. The problems started when the place ran out of the resources. And then, in 1932 a huge fire burnt up a huge part of the place, so people just moved out. Now it's a historic part, totally abandoned.
3. Kolmanskop, Namibia
This is one more example for those whit a money fever. The town of Kolmanskop was once a mining town, full with people who wanted to make an easy fortune. In two years they established a town full with a working hospital, casino, and school. The troubles began after the First World War, when diamond sales began to drop. People started to leave, and the desert started reclaiming what belonged to him in the first place.
4. Kowloon walled city, China
Kowloon city is just outside of Hong Kong. It was designed as a watchpost to protect the area against pirates, but in the second world war it was occupied by Japan. Since neither Britaign, nor China wanted it in the first place it became it's own lawless city. The residents practically built a labyrinth above the ground levels, since that was clogged with trash. The city grew so high that the sunlight couldn't illuminate the ground. This way the place was illuminated by fluorescent lights. It was a place where brothels, casinos, opium dens, cocaine parlors, food courts serving dog meat and secret factories ran unmolested by authorities. Authorities teared it down in 1993.
5. Pripyat, Ukraine
Pripyat is the city where people who worked at Chernobyl mostly lived in. When, in 1826 the Chernobyl reactor melted down people were evacuated from this place.Tho I'm sure you have all seen the place Chernobyl has become, I still find this place terrifying. Also, I read that the amusement park, that now lies in a frozen state, like in a creepy 80'-es soviet Time-warp, was open and working on the day after the tragic event happened. This somehow reminded me of the musicians of the Titanic...
