... have to do today, is to finally do my job on the other blog.

I'm not sure how many of you guys read Movie Education Project, but whatever the numbers are, I have to admit, that I've been postponing watching this weeks movie for far too long. Today is the last day to post my review, and since the exams are coming, we posted a pack of 6 movies that we will watch at our own leisure in the next one and a half months or so.

I have never done this before, but everything has to start somewhere, right? So just for fun, I'm going to post the songs I'm listening to while I write this post... and if you are in the mood you can even read it, while you listen to them. If not...well, just ignore the vid!

Today I'm going to present you guys a bunch of artifacts, that are currently unexplained, and/or unknown where they come from, what they are, and how were they made.

1. The Grooved Spheres

These spheres were found in South Africa by some miners, and they measure approximately an inch or so in diameter, and some are etched with three parallel grooves running around the equator. Two types of spheres have been found: one is composed of a solid bluish metal with flecks of white; the other is hollowed out and filled with a spongy white substance. The kicker is that the rock in which they where found is Precambrian - and dated to 2.8 billion years old! Who made them and for what purpose is unknown.

Roelf Marx: "There is nothing scientific published about the globes, but the facts are: They are found in pyrophyllite, which is mined near the little town of Ottosdal in the Western Transvaal. This pyrophyllite (Al2Si4O10(OH)2) is a quite soft secondary mineral with a count of only 3 on the Mohs' scale and was formed by sedimentation about 2.8 billion years ago. On the other hand the globes, which have a fibrous structure on the inside with a shell around it, are very hard and cannot be scratched, even by steel."

"It also seems that the spheres are so delicately balanced that, even with modern technology, they would need to have been made in zero gravity. The story goes that scientists at NASA were totally flawed when they examined them, and were unable to come up with any explanation." However some of the photographs do not seem to support this.

2. The Antikythera Mechanism

A perplexing artifact was recovered by sponge-divers from a shipwreck in 1900 off the coast of Antikythera, a small island that lies northwest of Crete. The divers brought up from the wreck a great many marble and and bronze statues that had apparently been the ship's cargo. Among the findings was a hunk of corroded bronze that contained some kind of mechanism composed of many gears and wheels. Writing on the case indicated that it was made in 80 B.C., and many experts at first thought it was an astrolabe, an astronomer's tool. An x-ray of the mechanism, however, revealed it to be far more complex, containing a sophisticated system of differential gears. Gearing of this complexity was not known to exist until 1575! It is still unknown who constructed this amazing instrument 2,000 years ago or how the technology was lost.

3. Dashka Stone

The Dashka stone is a unique artifact of unknown origin with (allegedly) a three-dimensional map of the Ural region. The stone was found in the village of Chandra in Bashkortostan, Russian Federation. According to researchers, the Dashka Stone constitutes evidence of the existence of an ancient civilization with high technical and cultural levels. If it is true it can also serve to confirm the views of creationists on the civilization of people before and shortly after the Global Flood. There are many ancient legends in Bashkortostan of a strange plates with ornaments. In 1921, historian Vakhrushev, who visited the Chandar mentioned them in his report. He reported about six boards, but four have been lost. And the sources of the nineteenth century states that there were two hundred boards.

A stone slab measuring 1.5 meters by one meter and over 20 cm in thickness was brought to scientists at Bashkir state university, headed by the rector, Professor, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Alexander Nikolayevich Chuvyrov. It is noted that at the plate allegedly plotted map showing the location of Ufa elevated to the modern city Meleuz. This image is a relief, according to modern concepts, you can get it from cosmic heights. It is alleged that on the map Dashka stone marked waterworks system and channel length of 15,000 kilometers, dams, 12 dams up to a mile wide and powerful water intakes. Rhomboid are designated areas - they were far from the channels. According Chuvyrova - so runways. According Chuvyrova: those who then lived and built, either flew or used the water route, since no roads are on the map.

The map also has numerous inscriptions. It is believed that this hieroglyphic-syllabic language of unknown origin. What the inscriptions say is currently unclear.

Some researchers claim that the stone is not artificial, but a purely natural origin, and the system of cracks has nothing to do with the scheme of the rivers of Bashkortostan. A layer of one mineral over another is not something surprising. There are stones, for example, with a layer of quartz on top. There are also "Moonstone" and "solar stone" with the same system of cracks. The constancy of angles proves just natural, pure crystallographic effect.

Alexander Chuvyrov calls the age of plate about 50 million years old, but this dating is based on conventional geologic column. He thought that the plate may be of extraterrestrial origin.

At present, extensive research is conducted on the Dashka stone at the Bashkirskiy State University and Moscow State University.

4. Shoe Print in Granite

This shoe print fossil was discovered in a seam of coal in Fisher Canyon, Pershing County, Nevada. It is estimated that the age of this coal is a whopping 15 million years old! And lest you think that this is the fossil of some kind of animal whose shape merely resembles a modern shoe, close-up examination of the fossil reveals that traces of a double line of sewed stitches around the perimeter of the shape are clearly visible. It's about a size 13, and the right side of the heel appears to be more worn down than the left.

How does a modern shoe print become impressed in material that would later become coal 15 million years ago? Either:

The imprint was made recently and coal does not really take millions of years to form (which science does not support), or...
There were people (or something like people) walking around in shoes 15 million years ago (of which we have no historical record), or...
Time travelers went back in time and carelessly left this show print, or...
It is an elaborate, highly detailed hoax.

5. Ancient Footprint
You could see a human footprint like this today on any beach or patch of mud. But this footprint -- clearly from the anatomy of a modern human being -- is fossilized in stone estimated to be about 290 million years old.

The discovery was made in New Mexico by paleontologist Jerry MacDonald in 1987. There were fossil footprints of birds and other animals, but MacDonald was particularly at a loss to explain how this modern footprint could possibly have been cast in Permian strata, which dates from 290 to 248 million years ago -- long before man (or even birds and dinosaurs for that matter) existed on this planet, according to current scientific thinking.

In an article that Smithsonian Magazine ran in 1992 about the discovery, it was noted that paleontologists call such anomalies as "problematica." Big problems indeed for scientists.

It's the white crow theory: All we have to do to prove that not all crows are black is to find just one white crow.

Similarly: All we have to do to prove that the history of modern man (or possibly how we date strata) is to find a fossil like this. Yet, scientists just put it on a shelf, label it as "problematica" and continue in their rigid beliefs because the reality is too inconvenient.

Is that good science?
